Who is the course suitable for?

This course is inline with the statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anyone who deals with children and wants a more comprehensive First Aid course.

Delivered by paediatric specialists it includes both theory and practical sessions.

• First Aid Priorities
• Dealing with an Emergency situation
• Casualty Examination
• Basic life support – Adult, Child and Baby
• Choking – Child and Baby
• Dealing with the unconscious Child or Baby
• Fractures, control of wounds and bleeding
• Burns and Scalds
• Anaphylaxis
• Treatment for Sickness and Shock
• Contents of first Aid Kits
• Appropriate treatment for minor injuries with Q&A session
• Childhood illness including febrile convulsions and Meningitis
• Regulations
• Recording and Reporting
• Certification valid for 3 years

How will the participants be assessed?

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no formal examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for 3 years.

Where will participants attend the course?

This two day (12 hour) course is delivered at your venue or an external venue and can be run at the weekend by prior arrangement.

What will participants do on the course?

Easy to follow theoretical input, with practical exercises and scenarios where appropriate. The course includes an interactive presentation, course manual for each delegate. There are no additional costs.
